COMMISSIONS Client Testimonials

My sister was turning “50” and upon the suggestion from a valued friend we approached Chris about doing a commissioned drawing of my father along with aspects of our family property that we grew up on for her birthday.

After collecting many photos and having some ideas we met with Chris to decide on a collage format. Chris & Margie communicated the progress of the drawing and it was completed in a very timely manner.

Chris had done a draft and when I saw it, my father came back to life as he had passed away almost 30 years ago. I am not ashamed to say that I cried and I am not sure if dealing with emotional clients is in Chris’s job description. However he gets an A+ for this also.

Chris has an innate ability to breathe life into a subject, in our case it was our Dad, the overweight Kelpie dog, the windmill and the rams right down to the dust, the shadows and the creases on boots.

Chris you are a remarkable talent and I can’t recommend your work enough to anyone who is seeking that “ special gift”.

The Gallery also has an amazing range of drawings which also is representative of his passion for Africa and the military.

The birthday celebrations were a “ Gangster Theme” and the drawing was presented to Jane at the end of speeches, the photos tells the rest.

It was my husband’s 60th birthday… what gift could possibly be special enough for such a special man… of course… a personal and incredibly skilled work by Chris McClelland!

Working with Chris was so easy and he took a very real interest in who we all were, our property and what we had achieved together as a family.

The resulting work is astonishing. To say that Bruce was absolutely thrilled with his ‘best gift ever’ is an understatement.

Chris’s style is distinctive and unique with the detail being difficult to comprehend, such is the quality. We are great fans of both his Australian and African works. Each and every piece telling its own particular story in such an individual way.

Chris did an amazing job putting together a beautiful drawing of my grandparents and aspects of their property, “Merritop”. I was able to give him some family photos on the quiet (for my Mum’s birthday) and he was able to take the people and scenes from each photo and combine them into one big collage with astonishing detail. Mum and her brothers were most impressed with his work. Chris was very easy to approach and was happy to take on the commission, especially since he had known the subjects personally. The McClelland’s also provided prints that could be distributed to other members of the family.

Our latest purchase was of our property at Booroorban SW of Hay NSW. It featured our son and my husband in colour in the middle of the drawing with surrounding features including the shearing shed buildings and structures. I wanted it to be simple but a clear view of our business and management. All was attained and we have had so many positive comments and interest since our purchase.

Chris and Margie, ( who took numerous photos prior to the work beginning) are our secret treasures in Hay. We have now four prints in our possession and one to give to my brother as a wedding present.

We have found over the years that Chris's attention to detail does not wain. This purchase was spot on in design and accuracy. Our reaction to seeing it when finished was complete satisfaction.

We still find small detail quite recognisable. The shearers we had that day - all recognisable.
