This sketch was of a male lion seen at a game ranch in central Namibia during one of my annual safaris in 19...  He was a member of a pride of wild lions that had just recently killed a lodge attendant.  Believing the pride not to be close by, the fellow foolishly left the safety of the secure enclosure to free a jammed chain which was used to position an attached leg of meat.  Unknown to him at the time, one of the lionesses was hiding in nearby thornbush and charged down the steep slope and nailed him in front of a trainload of horrified spectators.  The Desert Express passengers and train staff were there to photograph the feeding of wild lions!!
